The iPhone 8 Plus charging port flex carries the Lightning connector, bottom microphone, and headphone-jack circuitry — so when it fails, customers arrive with three different complaints and one broken part. This is a complete walkthrough for shops adding the 8 Plus to their service menu.
Tools
Pentalobe P2 driver, tri-point Y000 driver, suction cup, pick set, 80 °C heat plate, isopropyl, and a fresh water seal. Budget 45 minutes.
Steps
- Two bottom pentalobe screws, heat the bottom edge, lift the display from the bottom with the suction cup
- Open the display like a book to the left — the home-button flex cables are on that side, do not yank
- Disconnect the battery connector first
- Remove the display and the loud speaker assembly
- Unclip the antenna, unscrew the port bracket, lift the old flex out
- Transfer nothing — the new port assembly comes complete; screw it in, reseat the speaker, close up
The post-repair checklist
- Charging from 0% and from 50% (failing ports often work only in one range)
- iTunes / Finder recognition
- Voice memo recording (bottom mic)
- Loudspeaker music playback
- New water seal seated flat, no gaps at the corners
Port assemblies for the whole legacy fleet — from the iPhone 7 family through the iPhone 8 line — are stocked for same-day dispatch.
